Week 16

Posting this a week late, but better late than never :)

Week 16 brought such an improvement to how I have been feeling! No more all-day queasiness, and definitely an increase in energy. I am SO thankful!

It is amazing how fast these 16 weeks have passed. I feel like it was just yesterday that we found out. According to the baby books, this week marks the start of some amazing growth! Over the next few weeks, our little one will double in weight and add inches to it's body. Our next ultrasound is scheduled for October 29th- I can't wait see how much our baby has grown and finally find out if we will have a baby girl or baby boy!

Last week I mentioned the cookies I planned to make to share the news at work...2 assistants, 5 hours of baking/frosting, and 2 hours of packaging = over 100 onsie pink and blue cookies! My oh my were they YUMMY!

We took exactly 100 cookies to work. When passing them out, we asked our coworkers to take either a pink or blue, based on their guess for boy or girl. We ran out of pink first, meaning that the majority of people at work think we will have a GIRL! We shall see :)

Where I've Been

So here it is, five days into April. I cannot believe how time speeds along so fast! I haven't been the best blogger- sorry! My days fly by at work, I get home, make dinner, do a few chores, try to exercise, pack the next days lunches, and then its usually time for bed.  Every so often Ricky and I watch a movie or show over Netflix, but most often bed time comes much quicker then we'd like. Although there are never enough hours in the day, I am blessed beyond belief- I love my job and get to work with my husband, we have a beautiful house to come home to, and a very comfy bed for a good night's rest.

A few days ago we got back from a (much needed) vacay to Palm Springs, California.  We had been working a lot of overtime the last few months and things have consistently been go, go, go.  The trip was perfect timing.

As a child, Palm Springs was a frequent place my family would vacation so it holds a special place in my heart. I love the unique colors, the laid-back feel, and the intense desert heat- it made me so happy to be there with Ricky and for him to experience the place I love oh-so-much.  We relaxed and explored. Although it was hard to leave the sunshine, we boarded the plane feeling energized and refreshed.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip.

Shopping and lunch at The River
 in Rancho Mirage.

 Desert wildflowers.

Cooling off in the pool.

Watch out for the squirt gun!

I love him.

Poolside snack.

 So good at sharing.

Love the focus of this photo.

 Lemon tree in the backyard.

 Orange tree.

Daily morning coffee by the pool.

Felt so good to read a book!

 Our favorite place to eat.

 Sun setting behind hills.

We played a lot of pool basketball.

Loved the fuzz balls and yellow flowers.

 Early morning hike.

My hiking buddy!

At this point, ready to jump in the pool.

Happy Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day a little early this year, as we had to work opposite shifts today at work.  As wonderful it is to have a holiday to celebrate those you love, we feel like this is something we should all be doing every day, not just on February 14th. That said, we still found ways to make Valentine's Day special and show our love.

Last week, Ricky took me out on a lovely evening full of Thai food (my favorite), ice cream (which is also my favorite, but I rarely have), pretty little gifts, and then we came home and cuddled up and watched a movie.  Simple, but totally us.

We saved cards for today- all I can say is that I am one lucky girl! He is the perfect balance of sweet and romantic, but yet so strong and tough. Cards are simply the best, especially homemade ones :)

So in honor of Valentine's Day, I thought I would post a few pictures of a little craft project I did last week to add some Valentine's Day cheer to our house.
